How to Play in the Gumball 3000 Poker Tournament

We deliver the details on how to complete in an Ignition Poker tournament worthy of the Gumball Rally.

Because everyone here at Ignition Casino is pumped to be part of the 2022 Gumball 3000 rally from Toronto to Miami, it was critical for us to create a Gumball poker tournament worthy of true excitement. That’s why we’re proud to announce the first-ever $250K Supercar Gumball 3000 Grand Prize Finale. As far as we know, it’s the only poker tournament in history where the winner can take home a supercar – and that winner could be you. This year’s Gumball rally starts May 27 and speeds through to June 3.

Gumball Buy-Ins and Prizes

The Gumball 3000 Grand Prize Finale will take place at Ignition Poker on Monday, May 2 at 8 PM Eastern, with qualifying tournaments kicking off on April 12. You can buy-in directly to this No-Limit Texas Hold’em tourney for $300 (plus a $25 entry fee), or you can win your seat for as little as $4.40 by taking the qualifying route.

The top prize for the Grand Prize Finale is $250,000, which the winner will put towards the purchase of a supercar – just like the Ignition car – one that would hold its own among this year’s collection of Gumball 3000 cars. In addition, the top three tournament finishers will receive a $5,000 prize package for two to attend the special Gumball 3000 party on May 30 in Nashville. Everyone else who finishes in the money will receive a $1,500 prize, making the Finale the biggest event in Gumball promotions since the rally was founded in 1999.

Ignition Poker Tournament Tips & Strategies

If this is your first time playing any kind of poker tournament, don’t sweat it – we have a treasure trove of strategy articles for you right here at Ignition. There are tons of useful tips and tricks for players of all levels, from beginner to boss. In the meantime, here are three basic things to remember as we prepare for the greatest Gumball giveaway of all time:

  1. Survival first: Like any other investment, poker is all about getting an edge and exploiting it. But the special nature of poker tournaments makes it unwise to go too hard pushing a small edge. If you’re early in a tournament with a marginally strong hand, be more cautious than you would be later on when things start heating up. Speaking of which…
  2. Leverage your stack: This is the key to tournament riches. If you have at least 40 big blinds in your stack, you’re deep enough to make most of the moves in your poker arsenal. Once you hit around 15 big blinds, it’s either go all-in or fold. The last thing you want to do here is open-fold. Anything in between, especially around 30 big blinds, is the dreaded Danger Zone (TM Joe Stapleton). Be aggressive when you’re in this zone, and when you’re deep-stacked, use your leverage to punish opponents who are in this zone.
  3. Have fun: Poker is a game, and just like the Gumball 3000 rally, games are meant to be fun. Enjoy yourself while you’re at the table. Remember that poker is a game of luck as well as skill – and with any luck, we’ll see you in Nashville.

Shopping for Supercars

Gumball supercar

So what kind of Gumball supercar can you buy for $250,000? There are some absolute gems out there. The Aston Martin Vulcan that was unleashed at the 2019 rally might be a bit too pricey. Only one street-legal version was made – but if you remember the DB9 from the 2005 rally, the upgraded Aston Martin DB11 can be yours for a starting price of just under $200,000. That’s the initial V8 version, with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter engine and a healthy 503 horsepower output.

Maybe a Ferrari would be more to your liking. Gumball and Ferraris go together like peaches and cream. Among others, the F50, the 360, the 430 Scuderia, and the 458 have all made appearances at past rallies – although the F12 “Miami Vice” Berlinetta did look especially sweet in 2014. If you win the Grand Prize Finale, you can get your hands on a 2021 Ferrari Roma (aka the F169) for about $225,000. This is another beautiful V8 with a 3.9-liter twin-turbo engine and 612 horsepower.

And of course, there’s the car being driven this year by Team Ignition. The Lamborghini Aventador S, you can get details on the Ignition branded car.
